    Paul Ratay

    * Paul Ratay was born in Barberton, Ohio June 30, 1923. His life was cut short when on january 26, 1944, he was killed in action at Anzio Beach during World War Il.

    Paul was a versatile athlete as a Magic earning three letters in football, two letters in basketball, and two letters in baseball before graduating in 1942.

    In basketball, Paul was a starter on the first team to play in the then new Industrial Arts Building. As a Magics` baseball player. he was a pitcher and outfielder. In his junior year, Paul led the Magics to the District Championship. He was the winning pitcher in both district toumament games.

    In football, Paul was a two-way player. He played halfback on defense and offense, leading the district in scoring in 1941 earning All~State honors. A knee injury cut short his senior football season and cost him all of his senior basketball and baseball seasons.

    Paul was nominated by both Ed Janiga and Rocci Ratay, his great-nephew, who will represent him.
